"Holy Temples on Mount Zion"

As part of our Primary Program this year, I have been doing some "mash-ups" with the music so that we can include more songs in the program.  One of the pairings I made is about the Temple, and it ended up being three songs mixed into two.  I really like the Primary song "I Love to See The Temple" so that was a given for me to teach this year.  The other song came to me a while ago when I was looking at the back of the hymnbook and was noticing the pages that give tunes and meters and group related songs.  I like the tune to "In Humility Our Savior" and found that the words to "Holy Temples on Mount Zion" are a meter match.  Putting the two together gives a new song about Temples that I was able to use with "I Love to See the Temple" in a simple medley:

"In our eternal journey, the resurrection is the mighty milepost that signifies the end of mortality and the beginning of immortality. The Lord described the importance of this vital transition when He declared, “And thus did I, the Lord God, appoint unto man the days of his probation—that by his natural death he might be raised in immortality unto eternal life, even as many as would believe” (D&C 29:43)."

It's interesting I happened to post this article at the same time as the First Presidency Statement on Temple Worship:  I am excited to go to the Temple soon to see what has been adjusted, but for now I am grateful to know that we are being led "line upon line" and that the possibility exists in the future for continued revelation.  The statement is as follows:

"Whenever the Lord has had a people on the earth who will obey His word, they have been commanded to build temples. Scriptures document patterns of temple worship from the times of Adam and Eve, Moses, Solomon, Nephi, and others.

With the restoration of the gospel in these latter days, temple worship has also been restored to bless the lives of people across the world and on the other side of the veil as well.

Over these many centuries, details associated with temple work have been adjusted periodically, including language, methods of construction, communication, and record-keeping. Prophets have taught that there will be no end to such adjustments as directed by the Lord to His servants.

A dedicated temple is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth. Its ordinances are sacred and are not discussed outside a holy temple."

Family History and Temple Work: Sealing and Healing

Being in the Primary, I haven't been able to attend Elders Quorum regularly, but I do get a weekly email from our EQ President with the lesson topic.  It is a nice way to stay connected and be able to have something to study each week.
